Prime Minister Gilani’s passionate and defiant support of President Zardari augments well for the strong leader. Gilani’s stance averted a crisis which could well have thrown the fragile economy into disarray once more. India watchful of the volatile situation in Pakistan, needs to step up its engagement with the colonial cousin. As the world witnesses an economic transition, Indian PM needs to effectively engage with his Pakistani counterpart. With assurances of continued US civil aid, Pakistan is following a pragmatic route to maintain and sustain its identity. In this endeavour, India can prove to be a strong ally.

From the look of it, Gilani comes across as a strong leader and if correctly approached, he can be instrumental in fostering greater understanding and amity with India. It is high time for India and Pakistan to unite forces to promote regional peace and harmony.

Further to my comment, again can we trust Pakistan considering the dirty games and deceits they are practising against us. Also their administration is military based which is fully backed by ISI. There is no democracy in the country. Don't when the Talibani terrorists take the wheel of governance. So, having good ties with Pakistan will only remain in our dreams.

I really agree with the comment on colonial cousins. Yeh, it is a must we need regional peace and harmony and that can be achieved only both Pakistan and India become friends or strong allies. This change can reduce greatly the arms build up in our region. In doing so China and USA will be the big loosers and their economy will be badly affected. Therefore it is very difficult to achieve the goal of friendship with Pakistan as these two countries will play as a stumbling block if at all we make any effort to normalize the situation.
