As if it was not enough to have divisions amongst humanity on geographical and religious lines, now people are being plunged into darker depths on sectarian lines. The latest to go down the alley way is the Iraqi population. The smouldering Shia-Sunni mistrust and divisions fostered by the politico- religious power nexus over the years has seen the populations of many Islamist countries being gripped in frenzied in-fighting. The recent withdrawal of the U.S. Troops from Iraq have destablised the country once again throwing it into chaos and uncertarenity.

The Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki, a Shia, is on his way out leaving the country significantly isolated and rudderless. The buffer benefit which the warring  factions in Iraq were drawing upon has been withdrawn by Obama administration in a desperate bid of the American president to launch a successful election campaign of "fulfillment of promises made". With political instability in Syria, Iraq can scant ignore the grave danger to the nations stability.  It is imperative for Iraqis to put down their sectarian differences and consolidate their strengths and country. The national pride, shattered by years of war and crime, needs urgent restoration. Iraqis today must bear and carry forward the ancient and enriched pride as also a sense of belonging to one land, one destiny. Religious sectarian interests must subjugate to the larger destiny of larger happiness and progress of the people of the country.
