In line with Goa International Travel Mart's (GITM) focus on creating a platform for promoting tourism on the western coast of India, the Managing Directors of Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Gujarat Tourism for undertaking joint tourism promotion. The MoU was signed by Sanjay Kaul, MD, TCGL and Melwyn Vaz, MD, GTDC. Kaul said they would work on developing synergies for promotion of tourism. Goa is an established brand and tourism destination, ours is an emerging one. While both states have similarities like beaches, heritage, culture, Goa is more popular for Beach Tourism and Gujarat for Heritage and Culture Tourism. Each state also has unique offerings and can come together to create circuits and tap international tourists of the Golden Triangle, Mr Kaul said.

The MoU signed at GITM 2011 is a broad agreement for the two corporations to work together for mutual promotion of the two states. Both states were looking at synergies in developing circuits, creating joint packages and booking the same on their websites, cross promotion through their websites.
